Jobs and activities

There are so many things happening in Tsugaru Gospel Church. If you come, you could find yourself teaching/helping an English class, painting a roof, playing an instrument, playing in a skit, helping with computing, preaching, meeting with Japanese students, making friends with Japanese people and Japanese Christians – the list goes on! To give you some idea, here is some more information:

English teaching

English Teaching

English is taught at different levels. There are classes for children who have very little or limited English. There are classes for adults, some of whom already speak English and wish to progress. There are also English conversation sessions, where no formal teaching takes place, but at which you can engage with Japanese who are keen to meet you and get to know you.

Practical activities

There are plenty of opportunities to roll up your sleeves and make a difference by serving in this way! Cooking, painting, gardening, mowing the lawn, cleaning…you name it. It is all important, and contributes to the mission of the church by helping Japanese people to know the love of God.

Musicians

Music

Musicians at all levels can contribute by playing and singing during services and at different events organized by the church. Easy and fun english action songs are highly appreciated.

Student work

There are a number of Japanese Christian students here who would be glad of your help in sharing the Gospel with their peers. This could be through Bible studies, having meals together, inviting students to special events, initiating a conversation – generally getting alongside them and being a real friend. Do not mind the langauge barrier, smile and a genuine heart is universal.

Other Activities

Also…

You may have the chance to preach a sermon and/or share your testimony in a service (Japanese translation will be provided). Previously, short-termers have been involved in creating web sites, organizing games at special events and dinner parties, and providing assitance with various hands-on projects. Artistic and cullinary skills can always be put to good use!
